I TIMOTHY 6:14 - 6:21

A good pastor will teach believers prophecies concerning the promise of CHRIST’S Second Coming (Fulfilled - Rev 19:11-21) 14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the 1 appearingofour LORDJESUSCHRIST : P 15 Which in 1 HIS times he shall shew, who is the 2 BLESSED and only Potentate, the 3 KING OF KINGS , and LORD OF LORDS ; P 16 WHO only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; 4 whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to 5 WHOM be honour and power everlasting. Amen. 17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not 6 highminded, nor trust in 7 uncertain riches, 8 but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to 9 communicate; The promise of rewards to all who are found faithful when CHRIST returns (Fulfilled - Rev 4:2) 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation 10 against the time to come,

6:15 a This word ( Potentate ) is the Greek word GXQDPL9 ( dunamis ), from which we draw our English word “dynamite,” and denotes “ might and power .” CHRIST is inherently regal. Power was not conferred upon Him; it is His by nature. What was conferred upon Him, after He conquered sin and death, was all “authority” ( Mt 28:18 ). NOTE – There is a difference between “power” ( GXQDPL9 - dunamis )) and “authority” (ε ]ο υ σLD - exousia ). Whereas you can have authority without power (like Pilate – Jn 19: 10- 11 ), you cannot have power without authority. The Devil has authority over the earth (II Cor. 4:4 calls him “the god of this world”), but he has no real power to back it up. Did not the Devil have to secure permission from the Lord just to attack Job (Job 1:6-12)? Thus, anytime God wants to stop Satan from “exercising his authority” here on earth, He can (Lk 22:31-32 and Rev 20:1-3). So, what good is authority if you haven’t the power to back it up? Interestingly enough, even though Christians have less authority on earth than the Devil, they have more power (I Jn 4:4), and it’s always better to have power than authority. 6:15 b There are three offices ( Rev 1:5 ), commonly set forth in the Scriptures as being the channels of CHRIST’S work for lost men: (1) Prophet (Deut 18:15,18,19/Acts 3:22-23); (2) Priest (Psa 110:4/Heb 5:6 & 7:17,21); and (3) King (Zeph 3:15/Mt 2:2 & 27:42 & Jn 1:49 & Rev 19:16). Of the three offices, the last that Jesus shall occupy in the completion of His ministry toward man is that of King. Jesus is a king now –howbeit a king in exile. He is home at the moment, sharing His Father’s throne, and busily preparing for His return with a conquering army of invincible might (Jude 14). NOTE - Jesus is the Prophet who makes known God’s will to men; He is the Priest who is divinely commissioned to transact with God on man’s behalf, and He is the King whose power is unlimited, and whose will cannot be opposed. Hail to the magnificence of JESUS CHRIST ! 6:16 CHRIST is equated fully with God ( WHO only hath immortality - Dan 2:22, I Jn 1:5 and Jn 1 :6-10, 14 ). 6:17 If all our temporal possessions were destroyed, could we still worship God? If not, we are holding on to uncertain riches too tightly. 6:19 Although you cannot take your treasure with you when you die, you can send it on ahead (Mt 6:19-20). 6:20 Science is a search for the laws established by God at creation that govern our world and the universe. True science will agree with the Bible. All other topics outside the realm of true science are considered philosophy ( Colo 2:8 ). READ NEXT - Titus 1-3
