Gen 49:18 ( I have waited for thy Salvation - Mt 1:21,25 and Lk 2:11,29-32) Gen 49:24 ( from thence is the Shepherd , the Stone of Israel -Jn 10:11 and Mt 21:42,44) Job (c. 1625 BC) - Job 19:25 ( For I know that my Redeemer liveth - Lk 2:38 & 21:28, Rom 3:24,Gal 3:13, Eph 1:7, Titus 2:14, Heb 9:12, I Pet 1:18-19 and Rev 5:9) Moses (1528 -1488 BC) - Exo 2:11 ( when Moses was grown - Heb 11:24-26) Exo 3:1-14 ( And God said unto Moses, I AM that I AM - Jn 8:58) Exo 12:1-11 ( it is the LORD’S Passover - I Cor 5:7) *Jewish MESSIANIC movement (1487 BC - A.D. 33) (Exo 14 through the Gospels): (See - Gen 14:20 ) *Post-Jewish MESSIANIC movement (AD 33 - today)(Acts through Rev. 4 – the Jewish/Gentile Church), which includes the Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, Reformed Church, Mennonite (Anabaptist), Baptist, Quaker, Presbyterian, Methodist, Pentecostal, Assemblies of God, Church of God, Nazarenes, Non-denominational and Bible churches. According to the doctrine of salvation: Gen 49:18 , Exo 14:13,30-31 , Psa 74:12 , Jonah 2:9 , Hab 1:5 , Mt 7:13-14 , Lk 7:50 , Jn 4:14 & 5:29 & 6:28-29 , Rom 13:11 , Titus 3:5 a and Heb 6:1 c .), salvation is by “grace” and “grace” alone. (Note the following verses concerning the doctrine of the OT MESSIAH : PSALMS “MINI” SERIES.) 2. Works (Mt 19:16-26) The following religions believe strictly in “ works ” as a means to salvation: Judaism , Hinduism (karma), Buddhism (nirvana), Taoism , Confucianism , Islam , Seventh-day Adventist , and Jehovah’s Witnesses ( Jn 4:24 b ). According to the Scriptures, people will attempt to enter Heaven one of two ways: * Their way ( works - Jn 6:28-29 ) Note the following seven NT verses that religions like these like to quote in order to prove that “keeping the law” (good works) is a necessary part of salvation: Mt 19:17 b , Lk 10:28 , Rom 7:10 , Gal 3:21 , Jn 5:29 , Heb 12:14 b and Jms 2:14 a,b ). * God’s way ( grace through Christ’s WORK on the cross - Exo 14:13,30-31 and Rom 4:1-6 & 11:6) 3. Grace and works (I Cor 1:17) The following religions believe in a combination of “ grace and works ” as a means to salvation: Unitarian Universalism, Catholicism, Mormon, Apostolic Church, Disciples of Christ, Church of Christ, United Pentecostal, and House of Yahweh ( Jn 4:24b ). However, according to Romans 11:6, “grace and works” don’t mix. Note the following seven NT verses that religions like to add to “grace” in order to prove that “baptism” (works) is a necessary part of salvation: Mk 16:16 , Acts 2:38 , I Pet 3:20-21 , Mk 1:4 a,b , Acts 22:16 a , Jn 3:5 and Titus 3:5 b,c . 4. Grace then works (Gal 3:1-3) The following post-Jewish MESSIANIC movements believe in “ grace then works ” as a means to securing their salvation: Pentecostal, Assemblies of God, Church of God, and Nazarenes. Note the following seven NT verses that some post-Jewish MESSIANIC movements like to quote in order to prove their “ grace then works ” doctrine: I Cor 6:9 a & 15:2 b , Phil 2:12 , Heb 3:6 b & 6:4-6 & 10:26-31 and II Pet 2:20-22 . They use these seven verses to question the doctrine of eternal security (See - Psa 37:28 , Jn 10:28-29 , Phil 1:6 , II Tim 1:12 , Eph 1:13-14 & 4:30 , and Heb 7:25 ). IN CONCLUSION – Those who believe in salvation by “grace” and “grace” alone believe CHRIST is God ( Jn 20:17 a,b , Mt 27:46 , Mk 15:34 , Eph 1:17 , Heb 1:9 and Rev 1:6 & 3:12 ), and thus part of the Triune Godhead ( Gen 1:1 a,b & 1:26 , Deut 6:4 , Rom 1:20 a and Jn 8:24). According to the Scriptures, to deny the Triune Godhead, and CHRIST a part of it, one cannot be a Christian ( Gen 1:1c ). The following religions deny the Trinity: Judaism , Unitarians , Islam , Apostolic Church , Seventh-Day Adventists , Jehovah’s Witnesses , Worldwide Church of God , United Pentecostal Church , and House of Yahweh ( Jn 4:24b ) 3:7,9 Abraham, the revered patriarch, depended upon his faith in the coming MESSIAH ( Gen 22: 1- 8a,b and Jn 8:56) to save him, not his works (Rom 4:1-5). According to the Bible, we who trust CHRIST and not our works share the same faith as Abraham ( the same are the children of Abraham ). The New Testament and Wycliffe Bible Commentary notes: The real children of Abraham are not his natural descendants (Mt 3:9), but those who share his faith. 3 God deals with all men on the basis of faith ( faith in CHRIST ), not works. Judaism taught that only the natural descendants of Abraham and those circumcised were his sons (Mt 3:9). They are not ( Rom 2: 28- 29 ). The real sons of Abraham are his spiritual descendants (ipeople of faith who trust CHRIST and CHRIST alone for salvation, as he did – Gal 3:6-9).
