II CORINTHIANS 4:2 - 5:12

2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the 1 god of this world hath blinded the 2 minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, 3 WHO is the 4 image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, 5 who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, 6 hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this 7 treasure 8 in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not 9 forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11 For we which live 10 are alway deliv- ered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you. 13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, 11 I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak, The promise of a resurrected body for NT saints (Fulfilled - Rev 4:2) 14 Knowing that 12 HE which raised up the Lord Jesus 13 shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. P 15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the 14 inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For 15 our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more

exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. II Corinthians 5 The promise of a resurrected body for NT saints (Fulfilled - Rev 4:2) Date Written - Fall of AD 57 1 For we know that if our 16 earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a 17 building of God, an house not made with hands, 1 eternal in the heavens. P 2 For in this we 18 groan, earnestly desir- ing to be 19 clothed upon with our house 1 which is from heaven: P 3 If so be that being clothed 1 we shall not be found naked. P 4 For we that are in this 1 tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, 1 but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. P 5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the 20 SPIRIT . Paul’s positive attitude toward death 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by 21 faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and 22 willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be 23 present with the Lord. 9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be 24 accepted of him. The promise of rewards to all who are found faithful when CHRIST returns (Fulfilled - Rev 4:2) 10 For we must all appear before the 25 JUDGMENT SEAT OF 26 CHRIST ; 27 that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or 28 bad. P 11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
