JOHN 19:11
JOHN 19:30
1763
11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no 1 power at all against me , 2 except it were given thee from above : therefore 3 he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin . 12 And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar. 13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. 14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the 4 sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! 15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. CHRIST is led away to Calvary (S/A - Mt 27:31,32 & Mk 15:20,21 & Lk 23:26-32) Date - Fri, Apr, AD 32/AM 4032 16 Then 5 delivered he him therefore unto them 6 to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. PF CHRIST’S first three hours on the cross (9 AM - 12 noon) (S/A - Mt 27:33-44 & Mk 15:22-32 & Lk 23:33-43) 17 And he bearing his cross 7 went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: PF 18 8 Where they crucified him, 9 and two others with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst. PF PF 19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. 20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was
nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin. 21 Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. 22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written. 23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. 24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, 10 They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did. PF 25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus 11 his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. PF 26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the 12 disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman , behold thy son ! 27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother ! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. CHRIST’S second three hours on the cross (12 noon - 3 PM) (S/A - Mt 27:45-50 & Mk 15:33-37 & Lk 23:44-46) 28 13 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, 14 I thirst . PF PF 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, 14 and put it to his mouth. PF 30 7 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, 15 It is finished :

19:11 What Pilate possessed (yea, what all mortal men possess) was εξ οX σ L α ( exousia ), i.e., limited authority, which was given to him “ from above. ” What Pilate failed to see is that the One he was speaking down to had more than exousia ; He had GXQDPL9 ( dunamis ), i.e., overwhelming power ( I Tim 6 :14- 15a ). Like the Devil (II Cor 4:4), man may have limited authority on earth (Psa 2:1-3), but he has no real power to back it up (Psa 2:4-12). THE ADAGE IS TRUE: Tis always better to have power than authority 19:15 The pharisaical Jews performed the ultimate injustice by their statement ( We have no king but Caesar ), for they hated the Romans and proclaimed God to be their only King, yet praised Caesar just to kill Jesus. 19:25 Many identify Cleophas as the Emmaus road disciple ( Cleopas ) mentioned in Luke 24:18, in which case the other disciple may have been his wife Mary. If Cleophas was the mother of James, as others suggest, then he would have gone by a second name (Alphaeus), as mentioned in Luke 6:15. 19:26 CHRIST did not address his earthly mother as “Mother,” but as “ Woman .” Jesus, who is eternally older than Mary ( Mic 5:2 ), must have foreseen the false religious systems that would one day deify the woman who gave birth to Him. Rendering to Mary what alone belongs to Christ is idolatry. 19:28 That is: After CHRIST was willing to surrender certain aspects of His eternal authority that He had shared with both the FATHER and the SPIRIT for all eternity past ( Mt 27:46 and I Cor 15:28 ), He cried out, “ I thirst .”
