And these things I said not unto you at the beginning , because I was with you . The promise of CHRIST’S ascension to the FATHER (Fulfilled - Jn 20:17 - AD 32) 5 9 But now I go my way to HIM that sent me ; and none of you asketh me , Whither goest thou ? P 6 But because I have said these things unto you , sorrow hath filled your heart . The promise of HOLY SPIRIT embodiment (Fulfilled - Jn 20:22 - AD 32) 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth ; It is

love one another , 1 as I have loved you . 13 2 Greater love hath no man than this , that a man lay down his life for his friends . Christians who witness for CHRIST (vs 8) are friends of CHRIST 14 Ye are my friends , if ye do whatsoever I command you . 15 Henceforth I call you not servants ; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth : but I have called you friends ; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you . 16 Ye have not chosen me , but I have chosen you , and ordained you , that ye should go and bring forth fruit , and that your fruit should remain : that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name , he may give it you . Witnessing Christians will be hated 17 These things I command you , that ye love one another . 18 If the world hate you , ye know that it hated me before it hated you . 19 If ye were of the world , the world would love his own : but because ye are not of the world , but I have chosen you out of the world , therefore the world hateth you . 20 Remember the word that I said unto you , The servant is not greater than his lord . If they have persecuted me , they will also persecute you ; if they have kept my saying , they will keep yours also . 21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake , because they know not him that sent me . 22 If I had not come and spoken unto them , they had not had sin : but now they have no 3 cloak for their sin . 23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also . 24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did , they had not had sin : but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father .

Jn 20:17 (Christ’s Ascension to the Father)

15:21 Christ didn’t come to “get us” out of our troubles; He came to “ join us” ( for my name’s sake ) in our troubles. 15:26 This word ( proceedeth ) comes from a Greek word meaning, “ to continue in the process .” Meaning: The HOLY SPIRIT is continually being sent to aid Christians in their witness for Christ. The King James Study Bible notes:

The eternal procession of the Spirit means that He continually proceeds from beside, not out of, the Father. If the Holy Spirit came out of God, He would be less than God. To be more specific, the Holy Spirit not only proceeds from the Father, but also from the Son. This means the Father and the Son continually send the Holy Spirit. This in no way suggests the Spirit is less in deity than are the Father or Son. Instead it explains the relationship among the three eternal persons of the Trinity. 1
