JOHN 4:36

The promise of HOLY SPIRIT embodiment (Fulfilled - Jn 20:22 - AD 32) 23 But the hour cometh , and now is, when the trueworshippers shall worship the 1 FATHER in 2 SPIRIT and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. P 24 3 G O D is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that 4 MESSIAS cometh, which is called CHRIST : when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. 27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? 28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. 31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. 32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of . 33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? 34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of 5 HIM that sent me, and to finish his work . 35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest . The promise of rewards to all who are found faithful when CHRIST returns (Fulfilled - Rev 4:2) 36 And he that reapeth 6 receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: 7 that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together . 4:23 There are eight different Greek words that are translated “ worship ” in the NT: 1. Gο[D ( doxa ) – normally translated “ glory ” (Lk 14:10) 2. HXσHEHZ ( usebeo ) – meaning, “ to act piously toward ” (Acts 17:23) 3. θHUDSHXZ ( therapuo ) – meaning, “ to cure; to care for the sick ” (Acts 17:25) 4. θUKσNHLD ( threeskia ) – meaning, “ careful of the externals of divine service; religious ” (Colo 2:18) 5. QHZNοUο9 ( neokaros ) – meaning, “ temple-keeper ” (Acts 19:35) 6. ODτUHXZ ( latruo ) – meaning, “ to serve, to render religious service ” (Acts 7:42 & 24:14, Phil 3:3 and Heb 10:2) 7. σHEοPDL ( sebomi ) – meaning, “ to honor religiously ” (Mt 15:9, Mk 7:7, Acts 16:14 & 18:7,13 & 19:27, Rom 1:25 and II Thess 2:4) 8. SUοσNXQHZ ( proskuneo ) – meaning, “ to kiss toward; to pay divine homage; to worship God reverently ” ( Jn 4:23 ) Of the eight words translated “ worship ” in the New Testament, only SUοσNXQHZ ( proskuneo ) is used to describe the kind of worship that God desires and deserves. This word ( SUοσNXQHZ - proskuneo ) is used 61 times in the New Testament. It is used as an act of homage or reverence to: * G O D (as a whole) - Acts 8:27 & 24:11, I Cor 14:25, Heb 11:21 and Rev 3:9 & 14:7 & 19:10 & 22:9 * GOD THE FATHER - Jn 4:20-24 and Rev 4:10 & 5:14 & 7:11 & 11:1,16 & 15:4 & 19:4 * Satan and his demons - Mt 4:9-10, Lk 4:7-8 and Rev 9:20 & 13:4 * Antichrist - Rev 13:4,8,12,15 & 14:9,11 & 16:2 & 19:20 & 20:4 * Idols - Acts 7:43 and Rev 9:20 * Man - Acts 10:25 and Rev 19:10 & 22:8 * CHRIST - Mt 2:2,8,11& 8:2 & 9:18 & 14:33 & 15:25 & 18:26 & 20:20 & 28:9,17, Mk 5:6 & 15:19, Lk 24:52, Jn 9:38 & 12:20 and Heb 1:6. Christ not only received this kind of worship, He accepted it. NOTE – There are only three Persons in the Bible that “deserve” this kind of worship: FATHER ( Jn 4:23 ); SON ( Mt 2:1-2 ) and HOLY SPIRIT ( I Cor 3:16, Ezk 3:24-27 and Acts 5:1-4 ). Interestingly enough, just as there were three persons in the Bible who “wisely” refused the kind of worship that only God deserves, i.e., Peter (Acts 10:25-26), Paul (Acts 14:8-18) and an unnamed brother in Christ (Rev 19:9-10 & 22:8-9), there were three persons in the Bible who “foolishly” demanded the kind of worship that only God deserves, i.e., Satan (Mt 4:9-10, Lk 4:7-8 and Rev 13:4), demons (Rev 9:20) and the future Antichrist (Rev 13:4,8,12,15 & 14:9,11 & 16:2 & 19:20 & 20:4). 4:24 a The original Greek reads, “ 3QHXPD ‘ ο θHο9 ” ( pneuma ho theos – Spirit the God, i.e., God is Spirit). The article (‘ ο ) indicates the subject, whichmakes “Spirit” the predicate nominative of the subject. Although the predicate nominative (Spirit) is mentioned first so as to emphasize the spiritual character of God, the predicate here is generic; therefore we do not render it, “God is a Spirit,” but rather “God is Spirit.” NOTE – There are three divine expressions that are used within Scripture to convey the intellectual, moral, and metaphysical (or, supernatural) essence of God: (1) light ( I Jn 1:5 ), (2) love ( I Jn 4:16 ), and (3) spirit . The term “ spirit” expresses the metaphysical part of the essence of God (His omnipresence) and is used to describe the supernatural nature of all three persons of the Triune
