resurrection; and they asked him, 28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, 1 If any man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. 29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children. 30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless. 31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died. 32 Last of all the woman died also. 33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife. 34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: 35 But they which shall be 2 accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 36 3 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. 37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he call- eth the Lord 4 the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. 38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him . 39 Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said. 40 And after that they durst not ask him any question at all. CHRIST rebukes the Scribes and Pharisees (S/A - Mt 22:41-46 & Mk 12:35-37) 41 And he said unto them, 5 How say they that Christ is David’s son? 42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, 6 The 7 LORD said unto my 8 LORD , Sit THOU on MY right hand, The promise of a Kingdom where CHRIST will rule (Fulfilled - Rev 20:4,6) 43 Till I make thine enemies 9 THY footstool. P

44 David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then 10 his son ? CHRIST scathes the Scribes and Pharisees (S/A - Mt 23:1-39 & Mk 12:38-40) 45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, 46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts ; The promise of a JUDGMENT DAY to come (Fulfilled - Rev 20:11-15) 47 Which devour widows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive 11 greater damnation . P Luke 21 1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men 12 casting their gifts into the treasury. 2 And he saw also a certain 13 poor widow casting in thither two mites. 3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this 14 poor widow hath cast in more than they all : 4 For all these have of their 15 abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had . CHRIST explains events preceding HIS Second Coming (S/A - Mt 24:1-51 & Mk 13:1-37) 5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, 6 As for these things which ye behold, 16 the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down . P 7 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass? 8 And he said, 17 Take heed that ye be not deceived: for 18 many shall come in my name, saying, 19 I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them . P 20:35 There will not be a “married state” in the resurrection. An eternal state of existence could never coexist with the temporal distractions that an earthly marriage, divorce, or even remarriage would bring. 21:2 God in His infinite wisdom has left us certain isolated narratives within the Scriptures that, once uncovered, can enrich our lives spiritually as believers and teach us tremendous principles about the Christian life. The poor widow casting in two mites is one such jewel ( II Ki 5:2 and Mt 15:22 ).
