49:18 This word ( salvation ) is the Hebrew word “ YESHUA . ” This is the first of 78 occurences of the word “ YESHUA ” in the OT Hebrew Scriptures ( Exo 14:13,30-31 ). Jacob, here, longs for the promised DELIVERER whose name is “ YESHUA ” ( Gen 3:15c ). It is no accident that the child born in Bethlehem 1,684 years later was prearranged with the same saving name – “ JESUS ” ( Mt 1:21 and Lk 2:11 ,29-32). 49:24 The term “ STONE ” here is in reference to CHRIST . It is one of thirteen different names referencing Jesus within the book of Genesis .
