LUKE 11:10
LUKE 11:31
1648
21 When a 5 STRONG MAN armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: 22 But when a 6 STRONGER than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. 23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. 24 7 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. 26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: 8 and the last state of that man is worse than the first . 27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, 9 Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. 28 But he said, Yea rather, 10 blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it . 29 And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, 11 This is an evil generation: they seek a 12 sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the 13 SIGN of Jonas the prophet. P 30 For as 14 Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the 13 SON OF MAN be to this generation. P 31 The 15 queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? Area #7 - Power 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly 1 FATHER give the 2 HOLY SPIRIT to them that ask him ? CHRIST is accused of having Satan’s power 14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. 15 But some of them said, 3 He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. 16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. 17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. 18 If Satan also be divided 4 against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. 19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. 20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

Note - Logic suggests that it would be foolish for Satan to undo his own work ( If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? ). Would it not be an unimaginable state of affairs to fight against one’s own strategy? Isn’t that what logic suggests? And yet, the irony of this passage is that, in the end ( Rev 16:14 ), Satan will violate the very principle Jesus gave him credit for not violating. 5. or, “Evil one; the Devil” 6. or, “Christ” – Eph 4:8 7. 11:13 a If humans “who are evil” can act in a gracious and loving manner, how much more will God “who is good” do so? According to verse 13, God is more than a friend. In fact, our Lord indicated a stronger tie between God and man than between man and man (friend and friend). 11:13 b The FATHER here is not being compared with the man who is sleeping; He is being contrasted . Unlike the sleepy man, the FATHER never sleeps (Psa 121), nor does He ever tire of hearing from us (Luke 18:1-8). Parable #17 is aimed at believers who desire to pray . The character flaw – assuming God gets tired of hearing from you . He does not. According to Jesus, God wants to give to you so you can continue to help others. Our problem is not that we don’t want to pray; our problem is that we don’t want to continue to pray in order to help others. 11:13 c This word ( ask ) is the Greek word DLτοXσLQ ( aitousin ). According to The Analytical Greek Lexicon , the parsing (or, break down in the Greek) of this word ( DLτοXσLQ ) is – 3 rd person plural ( they ) / present tense ( continually ) / indicative mood (which is the mood of certainty ) / active voice 1 , and means that any Christian willing to continue to ask the FATHER for HOLY SPIRIT power, while living by faith (Jn 15:7 and I Jn 3:22 & 5:14-15), will receive the help needed to help others spiritually ( Rom 8:2 ). 11:26 Jesus stressed the fact that “self-reformation” is never a substitute for “salvation.” A person can try and save himself by reforming his life, but until he gets saved and receives the SPIRIT OF GOD (I Jn 4:4), he is “unprotected” ( and they enter in ) from demon invasion. Just because Jesus healed someone physically does not mean He healed that person spiritually. 1 The Analytical Greek Lexicon. Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 1977. Print.
