The promise of the Eastern Gate (Golden Gate) to be closed

P 21 1 Thou shalt take the bullock also of the sin offering, 1 he shall burn it in the appointed place of the house, 3 without the sanctuary. P 22 1 And on the second day thou shalt of- fer a kid of the goats 4 without blemish for a sin offering; and they shall cleanse the altar, as they did cleanse it with the bullock. P 23 1 When thou hast made an end of cleansing it, thou shalt offer a young bull- ock without blemish, and a 5 ram out of the flock without blemish. P 24 1 And thou shalt offer them before the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt upon them, and they shall offer them up for a burnt offering unto the LORD. P 25 1 Seven days shalt thou prepare 6 every day a goat for a sin offering: they shall also prepare a young bullock, and a ram out of the flock, without blemish. P 26 1 Seven days shall they purge the altar and purify it; and they shall con- secrate themselves. P 27 1 And when these days are expired, it shall be, 7 that upon the eighth day, and so forward, the priests shall make your burnt offerings upon the altar, and your 8 peace offerings; and I will 9 accept you, saith the Lord GOD. 2 Then said the LORD untome; 1 This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter inby it; because the 9 LORD , the GOD OF ISRAEL , hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut. P P P 3 1 It is for the prince; the prince, he shall sit in it to eat bread before the LORD; he shall enter by the way of the porch of that gate, and shall go out by the way of the same. P The glory of the LORD fills the Temple 4 Then brought 10 HE me the way of the north gate before the house: and I looked, and, behold, 1 the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD: and I fell upon my face. P 5 And the LORD said unto me, Son of man, mark well, and behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears all that I say unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the house of the LORD, and all the laws thereof; 1 and mark well the entering in of the house, with every going forth of the sanctuary. P 6 And thou shalt say to 11 the rebellious, even to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O ye house of Israel, let it suf- fice you of all your abominations, 7 In that ye have brought into my sanc- tuary 12 strangers, uncircumcised in heart, and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to pollute it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations. 8 And ye have not kept the charge of mine holy things: but ye have set keepers of my charge in my sanctuary for yourselves.

44:1 Ezekiel, having finished his account of the rebuilding of the Millennial Temple (Ezk 40-43), proceeds, in the second section of his vision (the reorganization of Israel’s worship – Ezk 44-46), as he is conducted by the HOLY SPIRIT ( HE ) back through the east gate, the principal entrance to the sanctuary (Golden Gate), to the outside of the Temple area. 44:2 When Ezekiel wrote down this prophecy, the road from the Kidron Valley entered through this gate (called the Golden Gate). This gate, looking towards the Mount of Olives, was still in use at the time of Jesus and is the gate through which He made His triumphal entry 604 years later (Mt 21:1-10). Then in AD 1543 (2,115 years later), Sultan Suleiman, after restoring the walls of Jerusalem, ordered the gate closed, seeing the road to the Golden Gate was no longer needed. To this day the gate remains closed “as predicted,” waiting to be reopened upon CHRIST’S return. NOTE – The Eastern Gate was shut (and will remain that way until Jesus returns) because the Jews rejected CHRIST as their long awaited promised OT MESSIAH when He came the first time through that gate (Mt 21:33-46). 44:3 Seeing the prince here has children (Ezk 46:16) and will offer a sin offering (Ezk 45:22), the prince here cannot be the MESSIAH . The prince has to be some human representative of the MESSIAH , a vice-regent of the KING , a future prince of the house of David, who will represent the LORD on earth (II Sam 7:12). The prince here may be David (Ezk 34:23-24 & 45:7,17 & 46:2,8), or it may just be a title for the High Priest during the Millennium. 44:4 After being shut outside the Eastern Gate in verse 1, Ezekiel was now escorted by the HOLY SPIRIT around the outside walls of the Temple area to the north gate . There he witnessed, once again (Ezk 43:4-5), the glory of the Lord filling the house of the Lord.
