the sword; and he that remaineth and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I accomplish my fury upon them. P 13 Then shall ye know that I am the LORD, 1 when their slain men shall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they did offer sweet savour to all their idols. 14 1 So will I stretch out my hand upon them, and make the land desolate, yea, more desolate than the wilderness toward Diblath, in all their habitations: and they shall know that I am the LORD. P Ezekiel 7 Ezekiel’s 5 th sermon – The promise of Jerusalem’s fall to Babylon (Fulfilled - II Ki 25 - 586 BC) (Note - This portion of Ezekiel’s prophecy took place in the 5th year of King Zedekiah’s reign) Date - 592 BC/AM 3408 1 Moreover the 4 word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Also, thou son of man, thus saith the 5 Lord GOD unto the land of Israel; 1 An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land. P 3 1 Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recom- pense upon thee all thine abominations. P 4 1 And mine eye shall not spare thee, nei- ther will I have pity: but I will recompense

6 1 In all your dwellingplaces the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your images may be cut down, and your works may be abolished. P 7 1 And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and ye shall know that I am the LORD. P 8 Yet will I leave a 2 remnant, that ye may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, 1 when ye shall be scat- tered through the countries. P 9 And they that escape of you shall re- member me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations. 10 And they shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them. 11 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Smite with thine hand, and stamp with thy foot, and say, Alas for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel! 1 for they 3 shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence. P 12 1 He that is far off shall die of the pest- ilence; and he that is near shall fall by Ezekiel’s 4th sermon – The sign of throwing a fit

6:9 There is a proper and improper way to react to chastening. The proper way is to lothe yourself (Psa 51 and II Cor 7:10-11) for coming to the place where you “had” to be chastened. Our reaction to correction and discipline should be, “I can’t believe I did this to myself.” Thus, in order to better react to chastening we must understand “why” God chastens. There are ten reasons “why” God chastens His own: 1. He loves us (Prov 3:11-12 & 13:24) According to Hebrews 12:6, God loves us enough to chasten us. God doesn’t like correcting His kids any more than we do; however, His love for us drives Him to do so. If you were an undisciplined child, then you were a “love child” rather than a “loved child” 2. He wants what’s best for us (Heb 12:9-10) Whenever God chastens His own, it’s always for their profit, never His pleasure 7. He wants us to know how faithful He is being to us (Psa 119:75) 8. He wants us to know that we still belong to Him (Heb 12:7-8) 9. He wants us to know that there’s still hope (Prov 19:18) 10. He longs for us to be like JESUS (Heb 12:10-11 and Rom 8:29) We need to educate ourselves concerning “why” God chastens before we stray away, so when we stray away (and we will – Rom 7:15-25, Gal 5:16-17 and I Jn 1:8-10), we will know how to react when we are being chastened (Lk 15:11-17). Ezekiel 6:11 Subject Head – Ezekiel’s fourth sermon pictured God’s anger towards His people (Ezk 6:11-14). Ezekiel 7:1 Subject Head Ezekiel’s fifth sermon was aimed at the Jewish captives who thought they were going home, back to Jerusalem. They were not. There would be no Jerusalem to go back to when God was done with the city. 3. He wants us to be wise (Prov 22:15 & 29:15) 4. He wants us to build character (Prov 20:30) 5. He wants us to live longer (Prov 23:13-14) 6. He wants us to do the will of God (Psa 119:67,71)
