P Jeremiah 33 God pledges His omnipotence for the fulfillment of His promises (Fulfilled - Rev 20:4,6) Date Written - 587 BC/AM 3413 1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, 2 Thus saith the LORD the 1 MAKER thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; 3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and 2 mighty things, which thou knowest not. 4 For thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword; 5 They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city. 6 Behold, 3 I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. P 7 3 And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first. P 8 3 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me. P 9 3 And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the na- tions of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall

fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it. P 10 Thus saith the LORD; 3 Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast, P 11 3 The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD. P 12 Thus saith the LORD OF HOSTS ; 3 Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down. P 13 3 In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that telleth them, saith the LORD. 1. that is, “Maker of the earth” 2. or, “inaccessible” Note – Apart from God revealing things to us we have no real knowledge of origins or of destiny. How important then is it for us to not only ask God, but to accept His answers! 3. Fulfilled - Rev 20:4 (Israel’s Restoration) 4. Fulfilled - Rev 20:4,6 (Christ’s Kingdom) 5. Fulfilled - Jn 10:10 (New Life in Christ) (See - Isa 4:2 & Jere 23:5 & Zech 3:8 & 6:12) 6. “ Jehovah ” Note - In this case Jehovah is referring to God the Son.

33:3 God pledges here ( Call unto me, and I will answer thee ) His omnipotence (vs 2) for the fulfillment of His promises (vs 3-18). Meaning: God’s Word is backed by His power. Alter His power and you can change His Word. However, if you can’t alter His power (vs 20-26), its best not to mess with His Word ( Rev 22:19 ). NOTE – If you wake up one morning and can’t find God (Prov 1:24-33), who moved? God said He’d be there. Where were you? This verse means what it says: God will be there for those who mean business. It’s those who fail to mean business who fail to get a hold of God. THE ADAGE IS TRUE: If God was not there when you called upon Him, where were you when He called? 33:15 Here God confirms ( will I cause ) the covenant that He made with David 454 years earlier in 1041 BC (II Sam 7:11-16) by pledging His omnipotence as collateral (vs 2-3,20-26).
