ISAIAH 33:14

ISAIAH 34:2

1087

14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? 15 1 He that 2 walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of 3 oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from 4 hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil; 16 5 He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure. P 17 5 Thine eyes shall see the 1 king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off. P 18 5 Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers? P 19 5 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand. P The promise of Israel’s restoration (Fulfilled - Rev 20:4) 20 6 Look upon Zion, the city of our 11 solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes

thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken. P 21 6 But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. P 22 For the 7 LO R D is our 8 JUDGE , the LORD is our 9 LAWGIVER , the LORD is our 10 KING ; he will save us. 23 11 Thy tacklings are loosed; 5 they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take theprey. P 24 6 And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity. P Isaiah 34 The promise of an Armageddon when CHRIST returns 1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it. 2 For the 12 INDIGNATION OF THE 13 LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. 33:14 God’s judgment ( the devouring fire ) upon Sennacherib’s Assyrian forces (Isa 37:36-37) will strike fear in the hearts of those hypocrites who lived in Jerusalem. However, the man whose heart is right with God (vs 15) can dwell in closest fellowship with that holiness (vs 16), which is to others as a devouring fire . God’s people who are hypocritical will forever be what they are –nauseating to God. 33:22 Our Founding Fathers understood the importance of divided authority and thus based our democracy on their understanding of the Scriptures and the Lord who governs the universe. They, therefore, followed the model given here in Isaiah 33:22 and separated the governmental powers into three branches: (1) Judicial Branch (depicting CHRIST , our Judge), which consists of judges who have the final say (Deut 1:16 & 16:18 & 17:9-11), courts (Deut 19:16-18), and juries (Num 35:24-25); (2) Legislative Branch (depicting CHRIST , our Lawgiver); and (3) Executive Branch (depicting CHRIST , our King). This is how America established their civil government. NOTE – Despite the fact that our Founding Fathers based our government upon a divided authority, our government is still a democracy, and democracies don’t work ( I Sam 8:5 ). Why? Because democracies always lead to a dictatorship. Just ask Rome or Germany? America appears to be ripe for a dictatorship, which will probably come via the Antichrist. Isaiah 34 Chapters 34 and 35 have a distinct character of their own, as they form the closing epilogue of the first great collection of Isaiah’s prophecies (Isaiah 1-35), which took place from c. 748-704 BC. The historical section that follows (Isaiah 36-39), which took place from c. 713-701 B.C, serves as a link between Isaiah’s first collection of prophecies and his second collection of prophecies (Isaiah 40-66), which took place c. 700 BC. 34:1 The object of God’s wrath will be the earth , the world (vs 1) and all nations (vs 2). The Great Tribulation ( DAY OF THE LORD ; the last 3½ years of the Seven-Year Tribulation Period, known as Daniel’s Seventieth Week – Dan 9:24-27) will culminate with the Battle of Armageddon (the INDIGNATION OF THE LORD – vs 2; the DAY OF THE LORD’S VENGEANCE – vs 8) right before the return of Christ (Rev 19:11-21). This period will be so cataclysmic ( Rev 6:5,6-8a ) that the earth ( the mountains shall be melted – vs 3) and the atmospheric heavens ( all the host of heaven shall be dissolved – vs 4) will experience devastating physical changes unlike anything the world has ever known (Dan 12:1 and Jere 30:5-7). 34:2 Officially, the INDIGNATION OF THE LORD ( DAY OF THE LORD ) is an extended period of time that begins with the onset of the Great Tribulation and ends 3½ years later with the personal return of JESUS ( I Thess 5:2 and Rev 3:3b & 6:5,6-8a ).
