The Storm

"I went on Henry’s team after 39 successful missions became compromised. The intel I received went like this: "There was a convoy scheduled to travel the Ho Chi Minh trail that ran from the Democratic Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Vietnam through the Kingdoms of Laos and Cambodia. Certain high-brass government officials were to be in that convoy, and Henry’s mission was to remove three of those officials that were in that convoy." "What Henry did not receive was the amount of armament that was within the convoy. It wasn’t just small arms weapons, but anti-tank launchers and shoulder fired weapons of various types. It was an ammo and weapons convoy sent to re- arm the Vietcong regulars on the political border. Henry’s team had blocked the road to stop the convoy and to draw out what they thought was a small group of regulars onto the roadway and use sniper fire to take out the officials. After the first sniper round dropped one of the officials a firefight ensued, and apparently, they focused on the area that the round was heard. The Vietcong used mortars and rocket launchers to blanket the high-ground area where Henry and the team were entrenched." Henry broke in, “They lit up the hillside like a fireworks display, and the shrapnel leveled the trees and plants around us. Grass, dirt, and wood splinters were everywhere, and then there was the white-hot shrapnel and phosphorous. They had no idea that it was The Ghost Team, but they were hammerin' us good." "Go on Gunny, tell the rest,” Henry said. Gunny went on, “Henry called in an airstrike, since they had been discovered, but we weren't supposed to even be there. No help was sent."
