It can be presented as a single spoken prophetic word so that it can heard by others in the congregation, or the musical, verbal expression of many can be given at the same time, causing a corporate atmosphere of praise to fill the sanctuary like a heavenly incense. Such an atmosphere, I believe, is the ideal environment for the gifts of the Spirit to function best. My introduction to such song was in Pastor Reg Layzell’s camp meetings and church. (Glad Tidings Tabernacle, Vancouver, B.C. early 1960s) We were instructed to use scriptural portions in our audible praise, and then to take it a notch higher by singing such portions with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit upon us. I have also known people to have been gifted with instantaneous piano ability to play and accompany praise in a melodious way, although I have never actually seen that happen.
