beginning of history (Jude 14-15). Abraham who is the father of

faith was a prophet who God used to speak the healing word

over pharaoh’s household (Gen. 20:7). It is Moses who is the

prophet who speaks the word of deliverance leading Israel out

of Egypt into the promised land (Deut. 18:15). It is King David

as a prophet who speaks of the Messiah to come (Acts 2:29

32). Finally it is the greatest of Old Testament prophets who

prepares the way for Jesus' first coming, John the Baptist (Matt.

11:9). And it will be a prophetic movement that will prepare

God’s people for the final works of God in this age (Mal.4 :5-6;

Rev. 11:3ff).

Clearly the prophetic ministry is a critical foundational ministry

for any fresh move of God. And whether the next move of God

is a final move or is just another one leading up to the greatest

move of God is not important. What is important is that the

prophe tic will alert God’s people and call them to readiness.

Because of this, God is going to raise up an army of prophetic

people and leaders who will help lay the foundation for what is

coming.

Over the ages, God has spoken to people through an audible

voice, visions, dreams, trances, signs, and small whispers. God

wants us to hear His voice. One of the classes we do at the

college I serve at is to recognize the need for God’s people to

know the voice of God and the power of the prophetic

messages He has entrusted to us.
