I love cocktail and canapé parties. They are creative, inexpensive (if you don’t splurge on the Osetra) and a relaxed way to mingle with all of your guests. The secret to canapé parties is planning and preparing ahead. Most nibbles can be put together before guests arrive, leaving you plenty of free time. At Buckingham Palace we had one event a year where we had to make 15,000 canapés, and if that doesn’t teach you the importance of advance planning, then nothing will. It was an amazing feat of coordination. This menu is thankfully much simpler but full of flavor and variety. Don’t forget to be creative with the drinks too. I always have beer andwine on hand, but I love putting together a tray of cocktails, just to mix things up a bit.
