Themes of the 6 th Century B.C. Exilic Prophetic Books Daniel: In the first captivity Daniel was taken as a teenaged captive to Babylon where he was divinely exalted to high position. His first six chapters chronicle miraculous dreams and visions, the last six chapters are amazing historical forecasts. Through both visionary and historical sections run the theme that there is only one true God and He rules the world, controlling the destiny of men and nations. Ezekiel: He was also taken as a captive to Babylon where he ministered to the Jewish exiles. Using an amazing array of prophetic signs and symbols, Ezekiel battled sin and idolatry. As a watchman he warned of judgment to come before Jerusalem fell; after the fall, he encouraged with visions of restoration.
