Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

Our longtime friend and pastor, Randy Boldt, always says, “J316 runs toward the chaos.” Soon after seeing news reports of the staggering destruction and loss of life in Japan, Dot and I committed our J316 disaster relief team would once again “run toward the chaos. ”

We quickly made plans for our ministry team to be

boots on the ground in Sendai, Japan.

I noticed a posting on Facebook that our great friend, Pastor Steve Laidlow, had taken a surveillance trip to Sendai from his home in Jakarta, Indonesia. Our ministry team had worked with Pastor Steve in Indonesia following the Sumatra earthquakes in 2009. Pastor Steve and I connected on Facebook and planned to take a ministry team to Sendai, Japan, and minister there and bring hope in Jesus Christ. The earthquake and tsunami had caused thousands of people to be homeless. Their homes and businesses were destroyed and many feared to return inside of existing buildings. Two of my closest friends and international outreach partners, Bill Henderson and Brian Bennett, signed on to make this incredible mission trip with me. We all knew that in the midst of life-shattering events like earthquakes and tsunamis, people are hungry to hear about the hope and salvation Jesus offers. We packed as much disaster relief supplies as we could and flew from Los Angeles, California to Tokyo, Japan. Our plan was to arrive in Tokyo and unite with Pastor Steve before heading out to the most destroyed areas near Sendai.
