stop turning, never to be the same again!
After all, it was early Tuesday morning, September
11 th . It was, “911. 911. Emergency Day!”
Only a few minutes after Dot and I arrived back at Granny’s, Dot’s cell phone rang. She looked at the phone screen and said aloud, “It’s Brenda.” She seemed a little unsure why Brenda would be calling when they were supposed to be on the plane taking off. I figured the plane was a little delayed and Brenda had discovered that she and W.V. had left something in the car that they needed. Our suspicions about why Brenda was calling were not even close. She asked Dot, “Have y’all heard anything about a plane hitting the World Trade Center?” I was thinking that maybe a small, single-engine aircraft had a flight problem and had hit the World Trade Center, probably not causing much, if any, damage. Dot answered her back, “No. We just got to Granny’s house .” Brenda continued, “ They are saying here at the airport that an airplane just crashed into the World Trade Center in New York and the FAA isn’t allowing any planes to take off here or at any other airport. ” Dot said to her, “Let me turn on the TV and see what we can find out and I will let you know.” We turned on the TV to see if there was any explanation as to what had happened in New York City so we could report back to Brenda. What we began to see was horrific and mind numbing.
Scheduled programming had been interrupted and Peter Jennings was reporting live on ABC, showing video
