was so convicted at the sight of this man lifting up Jesus and praising His Name, regardless of the leprosy he was stricken with.

the leper community. My life was forever changed.

We prepared to fly out the next morning to Padang on the Island of Sumatra. Padang is 573 miles from Jakarta with a flight time of about 1 hour and 40 minutes. Once we finished ministering in Padang, we would make our way up into the jungles of Padang Pariaman. As we gathered at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport, I noticed we had several boxes to add to our luggage. These boxes were filled with 200 Bibles written in the Bahasa Indonesian language and supplied by an Indonesian Bible school classmate of Pastor Steve’s who lived in Singapore. They were for us to give out to people in the areas devastated by the earthquake in Pariaman. Having these boxes of Bibles with us was not unusual as we have ministered in disaster relief areas around the world. Once again, I did not realize Indonesia is the largest practicing Muslim country in the world. We departed on our short flight to Padang and rented some rooms in a small, quaint hotel for our team to operate out of. After being in the city of Jakarta, Padang was more rural, and we immediately discovered this area was much more adherent to strict Muslim religion and customs. Several times a day, we heard the sirens blaring which was the Muslim call to prayer.
