Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

Myanmar, it may disarm the authorities whose job it was to grant the travel visas.

So, we took a step of faith, believing God was going to make a way, and we went out and had our pictures taken that we would need to attach to our on-arrival travel visas to Myanmar. We filled out all the applications and got everything ready to go to Myanmar. In the natural, nothing had changed to give us indication we would have the visas granted. But in the Spirit, we knew God was working on our behalf. In the Spirit, we felt like victory was at hand. As Brother Bill would often say, “God’s delays are not denials.” We gathered our visa pictures and applications and once again returned to the Myanmar Embassy seeking permission to enter the country. We did not say anything about Cyclone Nargis or disaster relief. I had my guitar with me, and Jerry had his guitar, giving us more of the appearance of an American rock band than a disaster relief team. When the authorities whose job it was to approve or deny our on-arrival visas asked us why we wanted to enter Myanmar, we gave them a much different answer than before. “We are a music group, and we want to tour Myanmar .” We added, “W e heard there were some awesome Buddhist temples in the country, and we can’t wait to visit them .” Suddenly, the authority’s demeanor changed. They told us to check back the next day and they would tell us if we were denied or approved. I could hear our former taxi driver’s voice ringing in my ears, “I can smuggle you into Myanmar.” No. No. No. We knew by faith our God was going to make a way where there was no way. He is The Waymaker.
