Sing Into Your Storm
We didn’t have a building, office fu rniture, computers or anything, let alone a developed product ready for market. All we had was four thousand dollars and a lot of excitement! I had been praying for a location (building) and one day the Lord deeply impressed upon me to go and checkout a certain building in downtown Portland, Oregon. Moved by the unction of the Holy Spirit, I went downtown to the small building that the Lord had put upon my heart, and was astonished to see a “ For Rent ” sign in the doorway! I met with the property management team who oversaw the building and found out the entire second floor office area was for rent. It was 4,000 square feet in size and the property manager said that it included all utilities i.e. water, garbage, electricity etc. I asked him how much the space rented for and was flab bergasted to hear him say “It runs one dollar per square foot!” At 4,000 square feet, that would be $4,000 a month, which was exactly , to the very penny, how much money I had! I mean seriously … what are the chances of that? You can bet I immediately starting talking to the Lord about that… “God you can’t possibly mean you want me to rent the entire space – why, if I did that, I would end up spending the entire $4,000 I have, and all I would have to show for it is an empty space with no furniture, no computers and even more importantly, no developed product or customers to sustain this endeavor?” God wouldn’t do that… right?
I just couldn’t conceive it! (Now t hat’s an interesting word…) To think that God would call me to make such a poor business
