Sing Into Your Storm ~ Overcoming Adversity Through High Praise

In both events, (although separated by about 500 years), both camps had a godly leader out in front of the peoples. Both generations had been given the same charge:

1. Moses at the Red Sea

“Do not be afraid. Stand still and see the Salvation of the Lord , which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:13, 14)

2. Jehoshaphat at Jerusalem

“You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the Salvation of the L ORD , who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!” (2 Chronicles 20:17) In the battle at the Red Sea, the children of Israel let fear set in, even though they were challenged not to be afraid! They chose fear which ultimately led to panic and then anger , which agitated the people to such a level that they started bringing up harsh accusations against Moses. Their faith became beset with unbelief . It was the steadfast faith of Moses which brought forth their mighty deliverance! Fear is the fastest path to unbelief! Fear is one of your greatest foes! No matter what kind of storms might be before you right now, fear is usually one of the first visitors to arrive at the door of your heart (mind). Why? The enemy is always trying to shipwreck your faith! “…wage the good warfare, having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck...” (1 Timothy 1:18-19)
