Sing Into Your Storm ~ Overcoming Adversity Through High Praise
peace with me, or have plundered my enemy without cause, let the enemy pursue me and overtake me; yes, let him trample my life to the earth, and lay my honor in the dust.” Selah (Psalms 7:3-5)
That is a gutsy approach to take before the Lord. But David loved and longed for truth and sincerity of heart. He knew:
“Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.” (Psalms 51:6)
“Your Word have I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” (Psalms 119:11)
There was another situation in David’s life where a person was accusing him with significant charges. David’s men offered to take the guy outside and deal with him, but David had the right posture of heart when he said “No, wait, what if what he is saying is true?” David was willing to have his own heart searched by the Lord, as well as others!
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalms 139:23-24)
That is the posture of heart necessary to present a “ shiggaion ” song of worshipful intercession and plea unto the Lord, asking Him for His judgment and deliverance (or vindication) in a storm brought on by the attack, deed or accusation of others.
