Frankincense is understood to be Mt. Moriah. Jesus knew this place very well, for He often went there to pray , seeking the will of His Father!
“And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olives.” (Luke 21:37) “…He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed to, and His disciples also followed Him.” (Luke 22:39)
The Hill of Frankincense is the place of sweet, fragrant prayer and fellowship with the Lord, where, through surrender unto Him, we can pray in true fellowship with Christ, void of our own motives and mixture s. That is why The Mountain of Myrrh and The Hill of Frankincense go hand in hand, where we burn sweet, fragrant incense (prayer) to the Lord!
“Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” (Psalms 141:2)
From the midst of our storms, we tend to cry out to God from a place of fear , anxiety and pain , wanting Him to bend to our wants and needs (expectations) instead of us first bending or bowing to His… It isn’t that we don’t ask – Scripture is clear about asking of God through prayer, and making our requests known. But when self (or selfishness) is involved, we are in danger of praying incorrectly in our storms that could work towards
