Sing Into Your Storm ~ Overcoming Adversity Through High Praise

And Your right hand will save me. The L ORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O L ORD , endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” Psalm 138:7-8)

In this life as true Christians, you will surely experience at different intervals of time what we call a season in the Garden of Gethsemane. The word Gethsemane itself means “oil press or winepress”. It is a place where olives are put into the press and then crushed so to extract forth the oil. This is the first stage of making anointing oil… the olives have to be crushed to bring forth the precious oil – there is no other way! Although Gethsemane was spoken as Greek, the actual word origin “gath” is from the Aramaic language back in the Old Testament denoting “winepress”. It too carries the same process…To make new wine , you have to start by crushing the grapes, then placing the grapes in the winepress to fully draw forth the blood (juice) from the grapes. The parallel here is so you can understand some of the deliberate processes of God in your life. When you experience a Gethsemane season in your life – it is much like being placed into the olive press of God – it has come into your life so that the Lord presses you to extract all He desires! Another picture of Gethsemane is the place where God places you in the wine press and presses you to bring forth the precious juice, suitable for the making of new wine. What comes forth is pleasant to God! To make the sweetest and most fragrant perfume – it too first requires the crushing of the rose petals, or other flowers to bring forth that beautiful fragrance! There is no other way to get the extract from your life!
