ROMANS Study Guide
apart from assembling with a local expression of the Body of
Christ in our community. (Eph.13-16)
1) God designed the church so that we would need one another.
(1Cor.12: 14-18)
2) There are some things God will not give to you directly…only
through another believer will He supply what you need.
b. God has constructed the Body of Christ…
1) To share the same life (fellowship of the Spirits life…koinonia)
2) The church is IMPARTATIONAL… it has life and functions that
are passed on from member to member. Jesus has chosen his
Church to be one of his key ways of imparting grace and
understanding to his people.
a) Generally impartations:
(1) Encouragement (Acts 4:36; 1Cor.14:3;Phil.2:1f) (2) Strength (Lk.22:32; Rom.1:11; Rom.15:1) (3) Joy (Phm.1:7; 2Tim.1:4; Phil.4:1; (4) Faith (Jude 1:20; Heb.13:7; 6:12; Eph.6:23) (5) We are the door of heaven (Matt.18:20) the gathering place of a greater presence of God (Matt.18:19) (6) Speaking the truth in love…(Eph.4:15a)
b) Specific impartations:
(1) Leadership, teaching, shepherding, apostolic (Rom.12:3-8;1 Cor.12:7-10; Eph.4:11) (2) Healings, deliverances (1Cor.12:9) (3) Revelation or insights from God (1Cor.13:2; 12:10)
c. We nee d one another as we attempt to access what we have in Christ…we can only enjoy and
present the full Christ in the context of the Church. We will never know all that we have been given
in Christ living independent of each other. But most important of all i n our understanding of God’s
Church is that God values above everything else relationship. God is in love with us and wants us to
pass that love on to everyone else. Relationship building and maintaining are crucial in God’s eyes.
Together, through our love for each other and those around us we present the whole Jesus. It is
ultimately our love for each other and our community that will win the world to faith in Christ.
(Jn.13:34-35)
