ROMANS Study Guide
We have received through Christ everything given to Jesus. We are rich
in Christ. We receive powerful graces to share two things with him -
a. His sufferings: we have been called to fulfill his work that will bring
us into suffering. If we embrace the suffering of Christ … ( unashamedly
identify with Christ in times of persecution and endure the “push
back” of the world when we stand up for Christ (2 Tim.3:12; Lk.23:31)
then we can expect to share with him his glory (the honor given to
him). Read also… Jn.12:24 -26; Matt.16:24; 2 Tim.2:12; Phil.3:10.
b. His glory: revealing his love and presence and kingdom authority
(2Cor.3:18) The reference of sharing in Jesus’ glorification is not just
a reference to our future in heaven with the Lord but also to God’s
work of glorifying Jesus now (Jn.7:39; 17:1). The exalting of Christ
through signs and wonders and the demonstration of Jesus as having
been exalted to the right hand of God is part of our calling as
his Church. (Mk.16:17-20; Acts 2:31-32; Rom.15:19)
The four keys to knowing and walking in the Holy Spirit:
1) Receive Jesus (Rom.8:9) and the empowering of the Holy Spirit.
(Acts 1:8; Lk.24:49)
2) Yield to the Fullness of the Holy Spirit…Eph.5:18
(Giving full control to his leading and will in our life)
3) Abiding (Jn. 15:5) … Let the Spirit flow through you!
a. Let him position you b. Let him use you (his gifts (1 Cor.12:7-10), his character (Gal. 5:22) … be a good steward of what you have been given for God’s glory. c. Keep the channel open … Spiritual life does not come from you… it comes through you . Spiritual fruit does not come from you…it comes through you for others to enjoy. So don’t get overwhelmed with evil (Romans12:21) and busyness (Matt. 13:22). Stay spiritually wake, listening and available. This will Require training and help in your local church body.
