ROMANS Study Guide
b. Paul ends with the shout of victory that comes because of the
work God has done through Jesus Christ! Vs.25
1) Paul ends on a victorious note. But he does not say how we have
been given victory through Christ which is the discussion in the next
chapter. Paul has set us up with the hope of hearing good news in
chapter eight.
2) He ends by summarizing the two conflicting laws.
a) With my new nature (mind)… I serve the Law of God (God’s will). b) But with my (uncrucified) flesh nature (carnal man) I serve the Law of Sin.
The Battle for the Soul
Summary: In chapter eight we will discover a fourth law… the Law of the Spirit … but in summery of chapter seven we have attempted to point out the inner struggle that has taken many believers into living unfulfilled and frustrated Christian lives. After Salvation, we must become fully alert to the forces of evil that try to keep us immature and struggling working through the weaknesses our canal nature. Satan works overtime trying to convince us that we have not really changed, and we are not different after accepting Jesus as savior. This is a lie but if we believe it we can be easily defeated by the enemy. If we believe his lie instead of what Jesus has done for us we will continue to live a life trapped under the law trying to be good and constantly failing. We must learn how to access the Spirit’s Life and Power to lead us out of this discouraging condition that can so easily wear us down. We must press in to understand and embrace the new creation and life we now have in Christ and all the rights we have as children of God. In Chapter 8 we will find the key to living the victorious Christian life.
