8. Paul finishes this chapter with his promise of coming and
ministering to them: vss.29-33
a. Paul says that when he has “performed” (executed) this
“ Sealing up” (finishing up of this grace of giving from the Grecian
Churches to the Jerusalem Church) he will come to them on his
way to Spain. (vs.28)
b. Paul se eks to come to them in the “fullness” ( completion) of the
blessings ( eulogeea : word we get Eulogy from… meaning to
give thanks for the full blessing they will receive from his gospel).
Here Paul is saying he will bring the complete blessing or ministry of
the gospel to them. Nothing was going to be missing in his
presentation of the Gospel to them. Every minister needs to pay
attention to being able to make such a claim for their ministry.
c. Paul turns finally to the need of intercession. Paul earnestly asks the
Roman Church for the sake of Christ and through the Love of the Spirit
that you “strive” (partner with me) in your prayers to God for me.
1) Paul here begins to let on his concerns in having received
revelations that things may not go good for him in Jerusalem.
(Acts 20:22-23)
2) He is concerned that the saints of Jerusalem will receive this
offering from Paul and these Gentile Churches because he has
been slandered by many possibly causing this offering not to
be received… (Acts 21 :20-21) (vs.31).
3) His personal desire is to come to the Roman Church with Joy
and to find some rest and encouragement among them.
d. He ends the book of Romans here except for the greetings he
