ROMANS Study Guide

c. Paul repeats what Jesus said that divine law is summed up in

“ Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matt.22:37 -39)

3. Paul shifts in his thinking and declares that we are at the “twelfth

Hour” (high time) … the time ( Kaio : a season, an epic moment) has

come…

a. Paul moves into the reason we must so love one another

because the opportunity of salvation is ready to pass away…vs.11 -12

1) We as believer must wake up from our spiritual sleep

(Blindness to the late hour)

2) Our full salvation is almost at hand (the rapture - the

Resurrection of our bodies from sin and decay) -

Rom.8:10-11,23; 1Cor.15:53.

vs.11-12

a) Cast off the works of darkness ... works that bring darkness

or fail to bring the light!

(1) God’s people when living like the world…are asleep spiritually (even if they are doing religious things). (2) Living like the world… thinking like the world is to lose spiritual sight and to destroy our light…ability to see and do what is right. (3) It is our responsibility to cast it off and wake up … ( because we have his grace to do so)

b) Put on the Armor of light (put on Christ) …

(1) Wake up and prepare for spiritual battle…spiritual light is our armor … ( the ability to see). Refer to Eph.6:10-18

(2) Works of light…

# Walk honestly (decently, properly in our lives)

…as in the day light

# Not doing the works of darkness…

…rioting (loud out of control partying) …drunkenness (abusing drink or drugs)
