Ministering in Africa

In the summer of 1990, Jean and I took our first

journey to Africa, with Pastor B.B. and Velma Hankins,

and Pastor Tom and Mary Ann Peters. We landed in

Nairobi, Kenya, where we spent time with missionaries

David and Jennifer Hatley. We then flew to Zaire, which

is now Congo, Africa for a conference. We were greeted

by our hosts, Ralph and Shirley Hagemaier, along with

Jamie and Lea Peters, who were serving as interns with

the Hagemaiers in Kalemie.

Jean and I had quite an experience as we traveled

into the bush to minister at a church on Sunday

morning. After the service, we had lunch in a real mud

hut, where we were served two kinds of potatoes and

skinny chicken legs. We will never forget that meal. God

is a good God!
