Next Steps 2.0 - Moving To Maturity
alignment with God’s higher way of thinking. We need to move from human reasoning to divine reasoning. The Bible gives us an accurate picture of what our mind is like apart from Christ. We do not like to think of ourselves this way, but if we are going to be renewed in our mind, we have to acknowledge that we need to think differently about sin, about man’s nature and about God.
The Bible describes the unrenewed mind in five ways.
1. The unrenewed mind is defiled or corrupted.
Titus 1:15, NLT Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted . This is a difficult concept to accept. Most of us like to think of ourselves as perfectly logical, completely sane and absolutely reasonable. And if all we wanted to do in this life is hold down a job, get along in the world and retire with benefits, we might seem to be normal in every way. But when it comes to comparing ourselves to God’s thoughts, to God’s purpose and the plan of God for our lives we realize that we have some growing to do. The Apostle Paul’s prayer for the Colossian believers was that they would gain a complete knowledge of God’s will and, therefore, be able to walk out their life with a sense of purpose.
