I Appeal To Caesar!
Then Esther suggests, “Why don’t you escort me there
anyway, we can become better acquainted.”
Saul’s response seems a bit too eager!
“Yes! I would be happy to do that!” (“ Man! Take it
easy!”)
The idea is good, (“ but what would he talk about?” ) Saul recalls that he has never escorted a woman anywhere! The desperate man accused of talking too much, finds himself searching for something to say! Saul notices Esther is his height, nicely dressed, and very attractive —while he, on the other hand, is rather shabby and grubby, having been in his workshop earlier that day, and he has made a very poor introduction! “Please, Esther,” the self-conscious man blurts out, “forgive me for my appearance! I have just come from my shop where I make tents, shoes, and other such things.” Esther replies, “You must be like my father in several ways. He was a great scholar, but he earned his livelihood from doing just what you described.” Without hesitation or nervous talk, she adds, “I have heard of you and your impressive accomplishments. I, too, am a believer in the Torah, and that Jesus is the Christ. My mother died in childbirth, so my father raised and educated me. “My father died recently in the small town of Arimathea in Judea and I decided to accept Rabbi Samuel’s advice and invitation to move here and escape the heavy persecution of the followers of “The Way.”
