Holy Boldness

The final layer of the truth of this statement is that until a person becomes a son, he will never fully enter into the thing that God created him to be. There are many layers of truth in this simple statement. No one could know a son except the father and therefore to seek the approval of men before the father would be a critical and life-altering miscalcula tion for no man could give anyone better council about one’s life than the heavenly father that created him. A son who is a true son has a unique insight into His father’s heart. All true knowledge is relational. Furthermore, only a true son could rightly represent a father’s interests to the public for only he could know the father’s intents and motivations. However, Jesus was not just speaking a general truth about fathers and sons but was stating the higher principle that only Jesus could reveal the Heavenly Father to the world. He himself was the unique son of God and had an exclusive inroad to the deepest truths of the Father’s heart. And therefore, the way into a deep relationship with the Father would be concealed from all who rejected Jesus. But to as many as embraced Jesus as Messiah and lived under His tutelage, all the secrets of the Father could and would be revealed. This was the nature of Jesus’ solemn joy expressed earlier. Jesus rejoiced because the true knowledge was hidden from the arrogant power brokers but was revealed to the innocent, the humble, and those who embraced Jesus as the unique son of God. Jesus holds the keys to all true and effectual knowledge about Father God for He is uniquely the Son of God sent to reveal Him to the world. The Great Invitation Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matt 11:28) All the statements Jesus had been making up to this point led up to this one great and extraordinary call to discipleship. All who are weary and heavy-laden, presumably through the misunderstanding of the heart of the Father whom Jesus alone could reveal, were invited to come to Jesus for a time of instruction that would greatly alter their life expe-
