Holy Boldness

God is listening to our conversations whether we are saying things that express our doubts or our faith. God knows those who are His and those who are not and He is going to make a distinction between those who serve Him and the ones who do not serve Him. This is a common theme throughout the Bible, especially in the Psalms which were written with such honesty and transparency. “Does God see?” is the critical question that is asked again and again. When we begin to walk out the belief that God rewards those who seek Him then we will begin to walk in righteousness even when no one is looking. Because we know the one who will ultimately judge our heart. When we have moral failures, we will confess our failures in private. We must cry out to God for the grace to overcome. We will seek and we will find because the Lord knows the ones who seek Him authen tically and the ones who seek Him to impress others. Who doesn’t already know these things? This is not really that profound. But someone needs to say them because most of the church has forgotten how to obey God when no one is looking. Doesn’t holiness mean anything? And what is holiness? Holiness is wholeness! Holiness is living a consecrated life for the pleasure of another. It is living with the awareness that God is paying attention and that what we do pleases Him. Holiness is living in whole-heartedness and the reverential fear of the Lord. So what kind of reward does one receive from God through secret obedience? Jesus does not elaborate much on it here but I can tell you from experience. What are the rewards of secret obedience? 1. A simplified life- Here’s a thought you might not hear every day: it is easier to please God than man! One of the great deceptions of the enemy is that it is hard to please God. Satan is always playing this game with God’s people. He always accuses God of asking more than is reasonable. But the truth of the matter is this: man is harder to please than God for the simple reason that man does not know what He wants. Man is fickle. Mankind in general wants one thing one moment and another thing a few minutes later. Man breaks promises but God, however, is faithful to His covenant. He wants what He always wants.
