God's Prophetic People
Chapter Three
A People of Davidic Worship
G od is calling His people to worship in these last days. Throughout history God has desired a people who would worship Him, a people who would come to Him with a spirit of praise and thanksgiving, for He alone is God and there is none like Him. In these last days there is a call going forth throughout the world for God’s people to worship Him, to worship the creator of heaven and earth (Rev. 14:7). As we continue to proceed in this present move of God, we will enter into a higher dimension of praise and worship. This higher dimension of worship is characterized by the restoration of Davidic worship (Acts 15:16). God's prophetic people are those who are responding to the call to worship, who have removed their idols, are entering God's presence, who are singing His praises and are worshiping the Lord in spirit and in truth. The time in which David lived so many years ago was not so different from the times we are presently living in. In David’s time, his nation believed and worshiped many different gods. This was and is called polytheism. This was universally accepted and embraced by many nations and cultures. Nations served and worshiped a great variety of lesser gods. In the time that David lived, many of his generation didn’t have a personal experience with God Himself. Priestly worship had diminished considerably. Neither the prophet Samuel nor King Saul sought to return the Ark of God during their reigns. The tabernacle in the wilderness had already fallen into ruin, with only the Ark of God remaining. The Aaronic priesthood had pretty well disappeared after the death of Israel’s high priest, Eli. During this time, worship descended into a more of a form and ritual rather than God’s intent of relationship and devotion. Some of the worship
