Promoters for the Titanic boasted its historic unsinkable features, effectively positioning the Titanic as the ultimate travel choice for wealthy and influential travelers, which contributed to its status and glamor before its disastrous sinking.
Corrective steps in dealing with a proud spirit:
a) Identify pride’s origin: Lucifer, Satan, the devil (Isa.14:12-15; Eze.28:1-19)
Understand the results of pride: • Resistance from the Lord (James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:5-6) • Being brought low (Proverbs 11:2, 16:18, 29:23) Proverbs 16:18-19: “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.” b) Humble yourself before the Lord (1 Peter 5:6; James 4:10) c) Pray and fast (Joel 2:12-14; 2 Chronicles 7:14; Isaiah 58:5-14) d) Humble yourself toward others (Ephesians 4:1-3)
D. CHARACTERISTICS of a Person Who Has Lost Holy Passion
1. The person is irritable and easily put out. 2. The individual is impatient with family members and loved ones. 3. The person has become ambitious and self-centered.
4. The person is constantly concerned about how others perceive them — whether it's their job, hobbies, lifestyle, appearance, or even their ministry.
