God's Prophetic People - A People of Passion, Purpose And Power
God's Prophetic People
e) Transportation – It’s who drives the newest car, has the sleekest truck, or owns the most impressive toys — whether that’s a boat, plane, or RV. f) Electronics – It’s who has the latest and most advanced tech — whether it's the most powerful computer, the newest smartphone, or the coolest video games. This competitive spirit is not restricted to the secular society — it has infiltrated the Church. Today, at many Christian conferences throughout the world, many conversations are focused around the following:
• Who has the biggest church building? • Who has the most people attending their church? • Who has written the most books? • Who has sold or distributed the most recordings/videos? • Who has made it into one of the prominent magazines? • Who has a radio or television ministry?
Third John 1:9 acknowledges the problem of competition
throughout the Body of Christ:
“I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them …” (NKJV).
“I have written something to the church; but Diotrephes, who likes to put himself first …” (RSV).
This clearly gives us the picture of a person who has a competitive spirit. They always have to be the top dog, the main man, the queen of all. The result of this has been quite devastating. It has left the Church in division, disunity, and missing its holy passion.
