God's Prophetic People
others, a deep, holy passion stirred within them. This divine inspiration compelled them to act, meeting the needs before them with urgency and purpose, driven by the Spirit’s leading. Seeing and Feeling the NEED 1. Nehemiah (Nehemiah 1) • Nehemiah saw and felt the need to rebuild the broken-down walls and city of Jerusalem. • Nehemiah mourned, fasted, and prayed for days before the Lord. 2. Isaiah (Isaiah 6) • Isaiah saw the majesty of God, the utter depravity of mankind, and the need for someone to be sent to the people to bring them hope and redemption. • Isaiah received an incredible revelation from the Lord, and we see throughout the book of Isaiah that he proclaims the coming of the Messiah, the rebuilding of Jerusalem, and the remnant remaining and being intact. 3. David (1 & 2 Samuel) • David saw the need to build a dwelling place for the Lord in the midst of the people. • David desired a place where God’s presence would continually dwell (Tabernacle of David). 4. Jesus (Gospels) • Wherever Jesus went He saw and felt the needs of the people around him. • He continually has compassion on individual people as well as multitudes in cities. • Are YOU seeing the need to reach a lost and dying generation? • Are YOU feeling the need to rebuild your city for God? • Are YOU seeing and feeling the need to participate in building God’s House (local and universal Church)?
