power. Derived from duna - which has the basic meaning of being able, capable. 4 The authority or right to act, ability, privilege, capacity, delegated authority. Jesus had the exousia to forgive sins, heal sicknesses, and cast out demons. Exousia is the delegated right to use dunamis (power, might). 5
Power (Grk) Exousia
The Lord Jesus Christ was the One who had the dunamis and exousia given from God (Isaiah 11:2, Luke 4:14,18; Acts 20:38). He in turn gave this to His disciples (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 3:14-15, Acts 1:8, Colossians 2:9-10), that they might extend His Kingdom in supernatural ways. God’s prophetic people are those Spirit-filled believers who, realizing their relationship with and position in Christ Jesus, willingly submit to God’s delegated authority, build up the Body of Christ by serving others, and who receive God’s power to arise and take authority over sin, sickness, circumstances, and Satan, extending God’s Kingdom purposes in supernatural ways.
