A People of Purpose
T oday we are living in a time of great change, uncertainty, and lack of purpose. Our society has been characterized as being morally and spiritually bankrupt, politically and economically exhausted, and heading for further decline. The effects of those tragic changes have been devastating to our generation. They have left our generation blurred in vision, meaningless in worth, and purposeless in achieving anything great or significant. A generation that is wandering to and fro without hope, strategy for life, and destiny (Jeremiah 14:10; Amos 8:11-12). Yet in the midst of this crisis situation, God is rending the heavens (Isaiah 64). He is overshadowing us with His mighty presence (Luke 1:35) and is giving birth to a generation that will arise and fulfill His prophetic purpose. This generation is God's prophetic people . Jeremiah 14:10: “Thus says the LORD to this people: ‘Thus they have loved to wander; they have not restrained their feet. Therefore the LORD does not accept them; he will remember their iniquity now, and punish their sins.” Amos 8:11- 12: “‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord GOD, ‘That I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD. They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east; they shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD, but shall not find it.’” Unfortunately, the generations of today could be known as wanderers, a people who are characterized by purposelessness and aimlessness, never realizing their potential nor proceeding in God’s plans or purposes. To be a wanderer means to move about without purpose or a vision, with no clear
