Man is three-fold, just as God is a tri-unity. Man is a spirit, soul and body. 1 Thessalonians 5:23. Our BODY is fed by natural food; our SOUL (the seat of our affections) is fed by love; and our SPIRIT is fed by the inspired Word of God. Genesis 1:26; Job 32:8; Ecclesiastes 3:11; Matthew 4:4. 8. HOW WAS WOMAN CREATED? Woman was created by God out of a rib which the Lord removed from Adam's side. Genesis 2:21-22. 9. WHY WAS WOMAN CREATED? God created woman to be a help meet for man ("a helper to suit him" - Moffatt). Genesis 2:18. She was created to mother the people of the earth. Genesis 2:20; 23-24. 10. WHAT WAS THE SITUATION THAT PRODUCED SIN? Adam and Eve were created innocent and perfect; God then placed them in the perfect environment of the Garden of Eden; they were subjected to an absolutely simple text and warned of the consequences of disobedience. Satan was given the opportunity to mislead the man and woman if he could. Genesis 2:l5-17, 25. 11. WHEN DID THEIR INNOCENCE END? The woman fell through vanity and pride, and man sinned deliberately. l Timothy 2:14; Genesis 3:1-7. 12. WHAT ARE THE FOUR RESULTS OF THE ORIGINAL SIN? [1] The Serpent: cursed by God, lost its beauty and position. 3:14 [2] The Woman: motherhood linked with sorrow; headship of man. 3:16. [3] The Man; to live by physical toil; sentenced to death. 3:17-19. [4] The Earth: cursed for man's sake. 3:17-19; Note Romans 8:19-22. 13. DID GOD OFFER ANY HOPE TO MAN? God made a covenant with man to eventually bring forth a Saviour who would bring an end to the conditions of the curse. Genesis 3:15; 22:18; Romans 8:21.
