5. HIS BASIC CHARACTERISTIC IS TRUTH, John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13. All that He does is in conformity to FACT and REALITY. He stays with the facts or to things as they are, and avoids lies, fictions, misrepresentations and the like. Hence, the terrible crime of Ananias and Sapphira – LYING to Him, who is TRUTH! Acts 5:3. Note that all that is factual and real is not visible. 2 Corinthians 4:18. 6. HERE ARE SOME OF THE ACTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. A. He searches the deep things of God for us. 1 Corinthians 2:10. B. He speaks to us. Revelation 2:7. C. He makes Intercession for us. Romans 8:26. D. He teaches us. John 14:26. E. He leads and guides us. Romans 8:14. F. He commissions men for service. Acts 13:2; 20:28. G. He glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. John 16:14; 15:26. 7. WHAT IS THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN RELATION TO THE SCRIPTURES? A. He is the author of all Scripture. 2 Peter 1:20, 21. B. He is the interpreter of them all. Ephesians 1:17. 8. HOW DOES THE HOLY SPIRIT WORK WITH SINNERS? The work of the Holy Spirit in relation to sinners is: A. He strives with them. Genesis 6:3. B. He witnesses to them. John 15:26. C. He convicts or convinces them. John 16:8-11. 9. WHAT TREATMENT HAS THE HOLY SPIRIT RECEIVED OF MEN? A. He has been rebelled against and grieved. Isaiah 63:10. R.V. B. He is lied to. Acts 5:3. C. He is blasphemed. Matthew 12:31. 10. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BLASPHEME THE HOLY SPIRIT? When a person obstinately attributes to the devil those works that could only be wrought by the Spirit of God, this is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, i.e. the unpardonable sin.
