Christ so humbled Himself to redeem me, a lost and condemned creature. 9. WHAT IS THE MEANING OF "REDEEM"? "Redeem" means to "buy back." You redeem whatever has been pawned; you may save trading stamps and then redeem them, that is, buy back their worth in merchandise. Jesus' life the ransom price that bought my soul! 10. FROM WHAT HAS CHRIST REDEEMED YOU? Christ has redeemed me from all sins, from death and from the power of the devil. 11. HOW HAS CHRIST REDEEMED YOU FROM ALL SINS? A. Christ has taken away all my guilt and suffered all my punishment. Romans 5:19; 2 Corinthians 5:21; John 1:29; Galatians 3:13. B. Christ has freed me from the slavery of sin. 1 Peter 2:24 and John 8:34, 35. 12. HOW HAS CHRIST REDEEMED YOU FROM DEATH? Christ has overcome death; now I need not fear temporal death, since eternal death has no power over me. Hebrews 2:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:55-57; 2 Timothy 1:10. 13. HOW HAS CHRIST REDEEMED YOU FROM THE POWER OF THE DEVIL? Christ has overcome the devil and conquered him; therefore, he can no longer successfully accuse me, and I can now overcome his temptations. Genesis 3:15; 1 John 3:8; James 4:7; Colossians 2:15; Romans 8:31-34; Revelation 2:10; 1 Peter 5:8, 9. 14. WITH WHAT HAS CHRIST REDEEMED YOU? Christ has redeemed me - not with money - but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death. 1 Peter 1:18, 19; 1 John 1:7; Isaiah 53:5.
