LESSON
3: THE SAVIOUR IN THE STATE OF HUMILIATION 1. WHAT WAS CHRIST'S STATE OF HUMILIATION?
Christ's state of humiliation was made up of this: Jesus Christ did not, in His everyday life, always fully use the Divine power that was given Him by His Father but rather became as a man and subjected Himself to the weakness and limitations of man. Philippians 2:5-8; Hebrews 2:14; John 2:11; 11:40; 18:6. 2. WHAT WAS THE FULL EXTENT OF CHRIST'S HUMILIATION? He was conceived by the Holy Ghost. He was born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered and was persecuted by mankind. He was crucified. He died. He was buried. 3. WHAT DO THE SCRIPTURES TEACH OF THE CONCEPTION OF CHRIST? The Bible teaches that the Virgin Mary received the conception of her son, Jesus, by Divine means. The Holy Ghost placed the Seed of God in the seed of woman, causing Divine conception. Mary, representing all mankind, supplied the seed for the flesh and bone of the child to be born; in contrast, the Heavenly Father supplied the seed that would produce the incorruptible blood stream that would give life to the Christ. Luke 1:35; Matthew 1:20.
