Their argument doesn't sound evil. There seems to be truth in what they said. Except Moses and Aaron didn't set themselves in a place of Authority. Moses was a man who had been humbled by the corruption of power. He and his brother Aaron had both resisted the process, hoping God would choose another. God set them in this position! The accusation against them was an affront against God. He responded in a most unforgettable way. The earth opened up and swallowed them all. God was sending a very clear message of what He thinks about rebellion. An arrogance that challenges God appointed servant leadership will be dramatically dealt with. Is it any wonder the scriptures declare rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft? I have met so many believers who bounce from church to church carrying their tale of woes and abuse. Most stories are aimed at previous leaders who offended them. Numerous are the atrocities I've heard told about good men and women who are giving their lives for the kingdom of God. Their stories sound as if there are packs of wild pastors roaming the cities of America looking for those they can devour. Their appetite for human flesh is insatiable. They lure unsuspecting victims into their congregations with smiles and promises, only waiting for the opportunity to rip them to shreds. Please forgive my cynicism. It comes from my personal pain and the pain of so many shepherds I know who are broken by their experience as servant leaders. The truth is, most pastors I've met are the kindest, sincerest people I know. The ones I'm in personal relationship with have been wounded again and again but continue to love with the compassion of Jesus. Most have a bit of cynicism due to disappointment, betrayal and an ongoing since of loss. Even
