Forty Days Full - An Invitation To Real Life
Section I: God’s Got A Plan!
God is a planner. He prepares for a long-term benefit. He is able to endure a great deal of messiness in order get what He wants. Since He is eternal, He doesn’t seem to be in a hurry. He has a perspective that is so large we cannot fathom it. Our 70 to 90 years on this planet seem like a long time to us. To Him it’s closer to a blink of the eye. Yet, He is involved in the smallest detail of our lives. So what is it that God wants? It’s obvious He doesn’t want slaves, otherwise, He would not have put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the middle of the garden. A slave master doesn’t give free will. He demands obedience. I also think it’s obvious, that He’s not just after worshipers. Every Biblical account of a human experiencing the heavenly throne witnessed a massive throng of worshiping angels and beings already created for that purpose. So what is it that He wants? I believe that when we take together the whole counsel of Scripture, it reveals that He wants a great big family. He is a Father who wants sons and daughters who are united together in love. From my perspective, it’s seems like there could have been a much better way to get a family. The history of our world is one big, hot mess! God knows love that isn’t chosen, is untested love. He is after voluntary lovers who choose Him above all others. If there were no options, how can you know real love? If we had known nothing but safety, comfort and security, our love for God would be superficial. We don’t get to choose our parents, but the process of growing from baby to adulthood will test
