Forty Days Full - An Invitation To Real Life
she is still the same loyal, devoted dog that I love. A true follower of Jesus is the same way. We love to be with Him and to obey his commands. We love to worship Him and be in His presence. But there are times we get distracted by something dead. This does not eradicate the power of Holy Spirit in us, but we can get the smell of death upon us. It means we’re in process and we still live in a broken world. Our journey of sanctification is learning to embrace life and not death. I’m sure God dislikes the smell of death upon us, but it doesn’t change the measure of his love for or of our love for Him. It certainly doesn’t change my love for Daisy. “If your heart is the dwelling place of God…how can it be evil? His Divine nature has given us everything we need for life and godliness…” (2 Peter 1:3-4). If Christ is in your heart you are good. This may come against what you have been taught in the past, but this is what the Bible teaches about our hearts. He’s taken away the heart of stone and replaced it with a heart of flesh. I was taught that I couldn’t trust my heart. The result of that teaching produced all kinds of self-doubt and insecurity in my standing with God. That’s not what a good father wants for his child. If there’s one thing I want my daughters to know, it’s that I will always and forever love them. As you embrace God’s love today, understand that His goodness is being displayed through the good fruit of your life. Let the good that is inside you work its way out.
Today’s Focus
Ask Holy Spirit to show you howHis goodness is being formed in your life. Give thanks for every detail He shows you. If you see things that are not good, give them to God as an offering. He loves those kinds of exchanges!
